Easter Sunday

Christ is Risen! Christ is Risen, Indeed!

The New Testament is a collection of testimonies to lives that were changed by their encounter with God, made manifest in the live of Jesus and in the risen Christ. Something happened in the lives of the disciples, particularly “the twelve” and the women who were the core of Jesus followers, but hundreds and thousands of others. Something happened in the life of Paul and those he shared his testimony with. Paul, throughout his letters, preaching “Christ and him crucified.” This concise testimony says a lot – that Jesus – who Paul never, to our knowledge, encountered in life has, nonetheless, transformed Paul’s life. The one who was rejected has become the cornerstone. One executed by the state and religious authorities is revealed as the Messiah and continues to be revealed – present to his people and to all peoples! Even the cross, the worst torture, rejection, mockery and means of inflicting death humans had available cannot prevail over the love of God, the creator and sustainer of all life.

We have completed our Lenten journey and embark on an Easter journey. Easter is not a day, but a season that continues through Pentecost. Easter is a celebration of the reality of God’s presence and love. A celebration of the transformation possible in God’s grace. A celebration that evil does not overcome good. This part of the Christian year celebrates the reality of Christ still among us. This part of the year continues to celebrate the reality of incarnation as well. We are invited to live into God’s love, God’s presence, and God’s call. To share what we have been given. Blessings on your journey!
